Dr. Mark Holland of Greater St. Louis Accident Injury Centers Minor Impact Soft Tissue Injury Documentation Results in Patient Awarded $17,268 from Country Financial Insurance.
St. Louis, MO, April 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Greater St. Louis Accident and Injury Center Founder Dr. Mark Holland recently treated a patient who suffered a minor impact soft tissue injury. The patient was in a Dodge Durango SUV stopped at a stoplight and was rear-ended by a Toyota Camry that was traveling approximately 15 mph. The patient was wearing a seatbelt and the airbag did not deploy. The vehicle damage was under $1200. The patient suffered back and neck pain with bilateral shoulder pain. There were no broken bones, disc lesion or neuropathy. The patient did not have any visible bruises or contusions. She did not go to the hospital and returned to work the next day. The diagnosis was a MIST or minor impact soft tissue injury specifically affecting the biomechanics of the cervical spine resulting in Altered Intersegmental Spinal Mobility. The patient was awarded $17268 based on Dr. Holland injury documentation. The patient award resulted from documentation only with no deposition or trial. Dr. Holland's medical team includes Orthopedist, Neurologists, Pain Management and Chiropractors.
The patient stated: “I am very satisfied with my settlement amount. The staff and doctors are wonderful and they take the time to know their patients on a first name basis. I feel 100% better after my treatment at Dr. Holland's office.”
Dr. Holland stated: “Unfortunately many doctors do are not familiar with how soft tissue spinal injuries alter the normal biomechanics of the spine. Therefore they do not know how to document them properly supporting the maximum value for this common injury claim. This often results in the patient or their counsel getting low ball offers with no recourse. I was happy to see that our office notes were able to support a great settlement to Mrs. Browning for herlow impact soft tissue injury."
